Just a song I like at the moment

January 5, 2013 at 7:30 PMTony

I've been playing and singing this every day at the moment,

Your Grace

Lord give me the grace to believe Lord give me the grace to believe And show me your light when it's darkness I see Lord give me the grace to believe

Lord give me the grace to love Lord give me the grace to love Lord soften my heart and make hard my resolve Give me the grace to love

Your grace is the power in me Your grace gives me all that I need I can't earn it or learn it You'll give for free Lord pour out your grace in me Lord pour out your grace in me

Lord give me the grace to press on Lord give me the grace to press on When my strength is poured out and my hope is all gone Give me the grace to press on

Your grace is the power in me Your grace gives me all that I need I can't earn it or learn it You'll give for free Lord pour out your grace in me Lord pour out your grace in me

Your grace is the power in me Your grace gives me all that I need I can't earn it or learn it You'll give for free Lord pour out your grace in me Lord pour out your grace in me Lord pour out your grace in me

Thy Kingdom Come

December 22, 2012 at 7:49 PMTony

Jesus said to pray "Thy Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven". Jesus also said that all authority in heaven and earth had been given to Him. So when we pray "Thy Kingdom come" all the powers of heaven must be backing that prayer including all the cohorts of angels He could have used to prevent His crucifixion.

I'm a dog owner. If I were to tell another dog owner to clean up after their dog they might well tell me where to go. But they wouldn't if a policeman was stood behind me. We should remember who's backing our prayers. Keep praying and expect things to happen.

It is clear at last

December 19, 2012 at 5:20 PMTony

This is a prayer of Watchman Nee's about how to deal with a brother that you keep trying to get along with and love but it never works out. I think it's adaptable (in my case and maybe yours) to certain people I may have to see in the course of family events.

"Lord, it is clear to me at last that in myself I cannot love him (her, them) at all; but I know now that there is a life within me, the life of Thy Son, and that the law of that life is to love. It cannot but love him (her, them)."

True and Truer

December 13, 2012 at 9:29 AMTony

Anything which is eternal is truer than what is not. In Ephesians 2 v 6 it says "God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus". We may be fathers. mothers, church leaders or whatever, and doing all sorts of things in the world but it is truer that we are seated with Christ. And if we doubt this then one day death will make it very plain.

So in our speach and thought life I think we should avoid talking and thinking excessively about who and what we are in this world. I'm off to read Watchman Nee's 'Sit, Walk, Stand' to see if that will help me refocus as it has done before.

Jesus Christ is Perfect Theology

November 29, 2012 at 2:41 PMTony

This is a quote from Bill Johnson in the previous blog:

"Jesus is perfect theology. It is theologically immoral to allow anything, any revelation about God that contradicts what you see in the person of Jesus - to allow that to trump your concept of what God is like. The clearest manifestation of the nature of the Father is seen in the person of Jesus. He made it very clear. He said 'If you've seen me you've seen the Father.'"

Administration

November 22, 2012 at 5:27 PMTony

I'm sat here at this computer typing this post. The computer is upstairs so just to get here all sorts of complicated actions have taken place. And now I'm typing. Where is the administration? It must exist. Just to put one leg in front of the other and keep your balance it must exist. But I wasn't aware of it. I just thought I'll go upstairs and go on the computer.

The church is Christ's body. He said He will build His church. We need administration. It is a gift of the Spirit. It doesn't run things. Christ says 'Do this' and the administration enables it to be done. Without being noticed.

Generosity

November 17, 2012 at 11:03 PMTony

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 NIV. What's all this austerity rubbish?

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 NIV. I'm sure they've got lots of justification for their austerity arguments but Satan is good at arguing. Until he meets Jesus.

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 NIV. Christianity is often counter-cultural: so give more, if someone does a job for you pay them a bit extra, up your giving to the poor, up your giving to the church. Don't give into Satan's lies: whilst all around us people are crying austerity, let us rejoice and say look how good our God is to us.

Forgiveness

November 16, 2012 at 6:29 PMTony

Let me be clear in the light of the previous post that forgiveness is available to anyone no matter what we've done through the work of Jesus on the cross.

Paul gave a list in this scripture "Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1Cor:9-10 NIV"  I don't think that was meant to be a complete list.

Add to it "Those who have abortions, are paedophiles, are wife-beaters, are thieving politicians, are sexually promiscuous, etc."

But Paul goes on: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1Cor:11 NIV"

Abortion

November 12, 2012 at 9:44 AMTony

At first it was against the law, then it was allowed in cases of physical or emotional harm to the mother, then on demand. I'm not sure if it's not against the law not to perform an abortion nowadays. It is the greatest crime against humanity since the second world war and like then the perpetrators have a plethera of justifications for their evil.

It's presented as pro-choice. There is a choice: it is not to have sex or to use contraception. After that there is a life involved.

My politics are normally left-wing. I cannot understand the left on this. The left is normally on the side of the weak against the strong. Is there anyone weaker than an unborn child.

Holy Spirit please convict people of their sin as regards abortion and raise up some mighty advocates for the unborn child.
